MONTICELLO CANYON TRAIL
Start your trek in Monticello, just a short drive northwest of Elephant Butte (follow Hwy 52 west to Hwy 192 west to Monticello). You’ll follow the Alamosa River, with private property on each side, crossing the river up to a hundred times as you work your way to picturesque Monticello Box. The trail is considered relatively easy.

BROAD CANYON TRAIL
BROAD CANYON TRAIL
On this difficult 9-mile loop with large boulders, ledges and steep climbs, you’ll encounter a “test rock” early in your trip. If your vehicle can clear it, you may find the remainder of the loop manageable. To begin, head south on I-25 from Elephant Butte. At the Radium Springs exit, pick up 185 north to a gate and the trail.
